300,000 electric motors: a new milestone
Our colleagues have made the 300,000th electric Performance- type e-motor, with a power output of 196 kW (262 hp). The drivetrain for the front and rear axles for the range of motors is produced in a 8,000-m2 hall. The finished products are then transported by ‘green trains’ from Győr to Brussels, meaning the entire manufacturing process is carbon neutral. At Audi Hungary, we not only manufacture electric powertrains: we also develop them as we focus on producing the new generation of e-motors. In the future, more motors will be made in Győr for the fully electric vehicles of the Volkswagen Group being built for Premium Platform Electric (PPE), which is being developed jointly with Porsche.

Audi Q3 Sportback: 2022 Hungarian Car of the Year
For the third year in a row, the Hungarian Great Car Coalition (ANK) and the website Járműipar.hu held their Hungarian Car of the Year competition, with 58 cars from 26 brands nominated in various categories. Two of the three Hungarian car manufacturers were nominated for the Hungarian Car of the Year award, both of them with hybrid models. The 2022 winner was the Audi Q3 Sportback 45 TFSI e, a network-chargeable plug-in hybrid made in Győr. The model met all requirements for exceptionally high quality in Hungarian car production and criteria related to future sustainability.

Competence-based services:
…from Győr to the world. The Shared Competence Center (SCC) was introduced to the wider world in 2022. In addition to its nearly 30 years of experience in engine and vehicle production, Audi Hungaria also places increasing emphasis on the development of services to build the competencies of employees throughout the entire Volkswagen Group, primarily in the areas of technical development, finance, IT, procurement and logistics. Approximately 800 of our colleagues are employed in departments belonging to the SCC, making a significant contribution to the economic successes of the Volkswagen Group and our company. During the SCC Press Day, these services were presented to Hungarian journalists in an interactive format.

Arrival of the 100,000th hybrid car
A district green-coloured Audi Q3 Sportback 45 TFSI e rolled off the production line to become the jubilee model. The model, selected by a professional jury as the 2022 Hungarian Car of the Year, has a system output of 180 kW (245 hp) and is powered by a 1.4-litre TFSI engine and an electric motor, thanks to its plug-in hybrid technology. Our company’s vehicle production took its first steps on the path towards electromobility in 2019 with the production of vehicles using mild hybrid technology, followed by the plug-in hybrid Audi Q3 models in 2020.

Audi Hungaria supports Győr sporting organisations
Ever since the foundation of our company, we have been committed to supporting the Győr region, and have contributed to numerous sporting, cultural and social initiatives in the area. We have been the main sponsor of the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra since 2016, and reinforced the partnership this year with the signature of a new three-year contract. We also moved into uncharted waters in 2022 with our support for the Győr Water Sports Association’s kayak-canoeing department, the Staféta Student Sports Association, the EMBERsÉG DSE and the Malta House of Care – supporting not only elite sports but also recreational sports and sports for people with disabilities.

Production to start for new range of electric motors
From 2025, Audi Hungaria will start production of the MEBeco (Modularer E-Antriebs-Baukasten – modular electric drive matrix) platform, which will be used as the motor for the Volkswagen Group’s smaller electric cars. We created a new production area for this objective, where in addition to drive production, our colleagues will also make the necessary panel packages, rotors, stators, gear components and power electronics. The investment – assisted by the Hungarian government – will help maintain more than 260 jobs.
September 2022
In September, a further 6,300 m2 of floor space was added to the Tool Factory,
which has been in continuous expansion since 2005, with further capacity available for the production of our assorted exclusive series. One of the largest tool factories in Central and Eastern Europe, the Tool Factory currently employs 700 people in tool production, appliance and equipment manufacturing, and exclusive series production. The production hall is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a highly flexible press line, laser cutting equipment and flexible robot cells, all of which are available to our colleagues, who over the years have built up a wide range of engineering and design competencies to ensure the highest quality for Audi and Volkswagen Group customers. In the newly expanded production hall, which has a capacity of approximately 58,000 m2, we produce large and complex aluminium bodywork parts for 40,000 exclusive sports models a year. The parts will find a new home in a wide range of cars, including the Audi RS, Audi R8, the fully electric Audi e-tron GT, the Audi A8 L Horch, the Lamborghini Urus, Huracan and Aventador, and the Bentley Bentayga.
