“Creating added value – this is our priority. Added value for all of Audi and the Volkswagen Group as a whole. With that in mind, our goal is to bring our pre-eminent, competenceoriented global services to an even higher level,” says Dr. Patrick Heinecke, member of the board of directors for finance, IT, procurement and compliance. But who exactly are the clients for Audi Hungaria’s products and services? We will now introduce them, as we examine our different areas of operation, with some interesting facts and the very best of our products and services.
From Győr to the world: whether in terms of our automotive, toolmaking or powertrain products, or the Technical Development, procurement, finance and IT services offered by the SCC, Audi Hungaria has grown over the years to become a key player in the Volkswagen Group, serving it in countless areas across different continents. Thanks to the expertise found in Győr, hundreds of vehicles are delivered every day to customers in numerous countries around the world, while our Tool Factory supplies clients with bodywork parts of impeccable quality. Our Powertrain Factory creates internationally acclaimed power sources, such as the V10 and five-cylinder engines, while our SCC services support Audi and Volkswagen sites 24 hours a day with everything from software security and navigating international customs and tax issues to organising the sourcing and distribution of a staggering number of series parts through global supply chains.
As a partner, Audi Hungaria quickly understands our problems through shared professional and technical challenges, and is able to think ahead in terms of implementation. Their staff have in-depth knowledge of their own areas of expertise, which is why they have always been able to introduce new areas quickly while maintaining the highest quality. One of our current joint areas is production IT, and we are also working with our G/FP colleagues to bring services in other areas to Győr.

Vehicle production
Using cutting-edge technology, we produce bodywork parts for the most exclusive cars.
When it comes to vehicle production and serving the most demanding customers, we can proudly cite our Tool Factory, which has been in operation since 2005. Inside the facility, which serves the Volkswagen Group in an increasingly wide range of areas, exclusive series production is carried out along with tooling and equipment and appliance manufacturing, all based on a highly flexible production concept that enables the production of exterior body components of outstanding quality, but also in smaller series, at low cost. Among our most important customers are Audi Sport, with its RS models, and Audi’s Böllinger Höfe production site in Neckarsulm, where the R8 sports car and the fully electric e-tron GT are produced. Production for fully electric models began in 2020, and all the complex aluminium bodywork panels are made exclusively at our Tool Factory. The e-tron GT’s doors, mud guards, bonnet and boot door are made in exclusive series productions and then shipped to the Neckarsulm assembly plant. As an indication of the order volume, more than 12,000 of the 35,500 bodywork panels delivered in 2022 will be for the e-tron GT, making it the model with the largest number of parts provided by the Győr Tool Factory. We also have other important clients within the group: in addition to the bodywork panels for the e-tron GT, the expertise and handiwork of our colleagues continue to receive praise for the Audi R8 and other Audi RS models, the Audi A8 L Horch, and some bodywork parts for the Bentley Bentayga. In addition, the Tool Factory has also received further orders from the Italian Lamborghini sports car factory: aluminium bodywork parts are made with our exclusive series production for the Lamborghini Urus SUV, the sport Huracan, and the Lamborghini Aventador super sports car.
Audi Hungaria is a reliable, expert partner that provides outstanding quality. Lamborghini cars are known for their stunning design, and the Audi Hungaria Tool Factory is capable of realising this concept through the bodywork parts produced there. They have an extremely high level of expertise in the construction of both bodywork elements and motors, they understand the demands of the client, and always do their very best to meet them. We have done lots of projects together – for example, production of the Aventador NF began in 2022 and Audi Hungaria is making the doors.

We create legends
Being known as the world’s largest engine factory is an honour in itself – and Audi Hungaria is the proud owner of that title. In the 30 years that have passed since the company’s foundation, our portfolio of clients has grown ever larger. Today, we produce engines and electric motors for 37 clients across Audi and the Volkswagen Group. In addition to much else besides, we are particularly proud that our Powertrain Factory has provided products of the calibre of the now legendary five-cylinder engines that power the Lamborghini cars and the V10 and Audi RS models. Since 2021, these two engines have been made on the same production line, where our colleagues assemble 90 engines a day with precise manual work – almost an artisanal approach. In 2021, the iconic five-cylinder engine celebrated its 45th jubilee of production. The 2.5-litre engine, capable of delivering 294 kW (400 hp) of power and 480 Nm of maximum torque, and winner of the International Engine of the Year for nine years in a row, has been manufactured at Audi Hungaria since 2008. The five-cylinder made-in-Győr engines are installed in cars such as the Győr Audi RS Q3 and RS Q3 SB, the Audi TT RS Coupé and Roadster, and the CUPRA Formentor. Another source of pride in our Engine Factory is the ten-cylinder engine, for which our specialists manufacture two key components in-house: the cylinder head and the crankcase. The final result is the 5,200-cm3 Audi engine, which is fitted to the Audi R8 models at the Böllinger Höfe production site in Germany (with a maximum performance of 639 horsepower) and the Lamborghini Huracan in Italy (with a maximum performance of 640 horsepower).
In my experience, our partnership with Audi Hungaria has always been extremely trustworthy and solution-centred. The motivation and commitment of AH’s employees enables them to react quickly to changing circumstances with a high degree of flexibility. Together in 2022, we managed to increase the number of e-tron GT electric vehicles at Böllinger Höfe and produce bodywork for our client, Lamborghini.

Shared Competence Center
We provide competency-based services to the Volkswagen Group.
Our motivation remains the same: at Audi Hungaria, we are committed to offering our customers not only high-quality products, but also competence- centric services in the areas of Technical Development, finance, IT, procurement and pre-production support. Let’s take a look at just how diverse our expertise and our clients are! Technical Development, founded in 2001, has 570 highly qualified experts and is the flagship of SCC. The field of vehicle powertrain development carries out complete development projects related to various internal combustion engines and electric motors. Audi Hungaria’s Vehicle Development contributes its virtual development expertise and unique test benches to ensure Audi vehicles have the right characteristics. Within SCC, our finance specialists process and book AUDI AG’s incoming invoices. We also recently extended our activities to outgoing invoice processes. The Control Vehicle Systems team processes more than a billion euros in material cost volumes for Audi every year for powertrain, bodywork and battery systems. Our customs colleagues carry out the origin calculations for Audi models and support AUDI AG in its export and import activities. Our tax experts operate a system that supports the compliance of business benefits provided by AUDI AG. Our IT team offers more than 30 different services to clients across more than 200 Volkswagen Group sites, supporting thousands of people every day and providing a wide range of services. Another vital area is procurement, which has been in operation since 2007, with series purchasing providing parts for the group’s 45 production sites. With a turnover of EUR 2.3 billion in 2021, the area is responsible for 33,000 series parts, supplying Volkswagen, Audi and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. In the field of pre-production services, in addition to the classic dispatching tasks, the Supply Chain area of our vehicle production also supports the Audi Group with logistics planning services, while preparations are also underway to take over tasks related to logistics cost evaluation.
Audi Hungaria SCC is a highly professional and competent partner in the financial area. During my five years here, I have experienced their great team spirit, and I appreciate the staff, who work with high professional competence, strong process orientation and great passion. In 2022, we have significantly expanded the cooperation and the staff have also solved this challenging task with great competence and professionalism, delivering incredible levels of performance!
